Fireroad Ventures is pleased to announce its investment in Neighbor Serve, the trust-centered home services platform connecting homeowners with vetted local contractors through relationships, not ads.
Based in Indianapolis, Neighbor Serve is rebuilding how homeowners find skilled tradespeople by routing demand through trusted partners — realtors, builders, and employers — who refer at the moment of need. With over 1,000 homeowners served and 75+ contractors on the platform, Neighbor Serve is proving that the lead-generation model that has dominated home services for two decades is ready to be replaced.
The Problem
"Homeowners don't want to sort through five competing bids from strangers. They want someone they can trust. And contractors don't want to pay more and more for leads that convert less and less. The whole model is broken and everyone in it knows it."
— Dan Hanrahan, CEO and Founder of Neighbor Serve
Today, the home services market runs on a lead-generation model that rewards the best marketers with the highest budgets, not the best service providers. Platforms like Angi, Thumbtack, and Google LSA sell homeowner demand to whoever bids highest. This model is collapsing under its own incentives; Angi's revenue dropped 23% in 2023 and another 13% in 2024.
The status quo today requires contractors to pay escalating fees for leads that close at 5-10%, while homeowners are bombarded by multi-channel messages and calls that are only accelerated with AI-native tools. So, the problem of 'getting qualified leads' for home service providers isn't a lack of technology: it's a model that extracts value from everyone while building trust with no one.
The Solution
Neighbor Serve replaces the auction with an introduction. Partners like realtors, builders, and corporate relocation partners bring homeowners into the Neighbor Serve platform. When a homeowner reaches out to a provider through Neighbor Serve, contractors convert those leads at over 51% — five to ten times the industry average.
"I've been spending time with Dan for more than two years as he builds Neighbor Serve, and what kept drawing me back was this: Neighbor Serve isn't a better version of the existing model — it's a rejection of it."
— Tim Metzner, Partner at Fireroad Ventures
The platform compounds over time. The Home Hub captures rich property data — appliance ages, service history, emergency contacts — not through self-reporting, but through contractors actually doing jobs. Every completed service call deepens the data layer, improving matching, strengthening contractor retention, and building a proprietary record that generic platforms can't replicate. As AI becomes the default interface for finding local services, Neighbor Serve's structured dataset and vetted network position local tradespeople to compete and win.
Founder Dan Hanrahan brings two prior exits (iGoDigital, acquired by ExactTarget; Sigstr, acquired by Terminus) and direct experience operating a physical home services business. Neighbor Serve's leadership team brings strong operating experience and sharp focus on serving each stakeholder in the Neighbor Serve network with personal attention and focus.
Neighbor Serve is currently expanding from Indianapolis into new markets, including Cincinnati later in 2026, where Fireroad is based.
